The works of a New York artist who died in the Sept. 11 attacks are now on display at the Bronx Museum of the Arts.
Brooklyn-born Michael Richards died while working in a studio on the 92nd floor of tower one of the World Trade Center buildings on Sept. 11.
Richards' work was designed to make art enthusiasts think. His sculptures can be viewed at the Michael Richards: Are You Down exhibit. They touch on several topics including aviation, African American folklore, spirituality and masculinity.
Melissa Levin and Alex Fiahlo are co-curators of the touring exhibition that took years of community-based research.
Richard's relationship with the Bronx Museum of Art during his life led to many of the pieces on display. The exhibit is now available for visits until January 2024.
