The Department of Transportation unveiled several improvements Monday aimed at keeping the streets safer for foot traffic.
The pedestrian safety upgrades were installed on Atlantic, Underhill and Washington avenues in Prospect Park.
The duration of crossing signals for pedestrians has been increased by 8 seconds, officials say, and crosswalks have been made shorter.
Drivers face a restricted left turn from southbound Washington Avenue to eastbound Atlantic Avenue.
The city says the area had 99 injuries resulting from traffic crashes between 2009 and 2013.
