The Department of Transportation is having parking meters go paperless.
Starting on May 8, drivers will no longer have to print a receipt and put it on their dashboard when they park at a meter. Drivers will be able to instead just enter their license plate number.
The upgrades will start in Manhattan before expanding to the other boroughs.
The transportation department says each year the city parking meters print around 2,500 miles worth of receipts.
