A woman was struck by a car while she was waiting at a bus stop in Midwood.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

One person News 12 spoke with said she awoke to a woman screaming. She looked out the window and saw a light post had fallen on top of a car.

Witnesses say the woman was sitting at the bus stop on East 28th Street and Kings Highway when a car sped into her -- pinning her underneath and taking down both the light post and the bus sign in the process.

Police say the victim was taken to Kings County Hospital where she is expected to survive.

The driver of the car was taken into custody. It's not clear if anyone else was in the car at the time of the crash.
