Dumping trash, trespassing and drugs are all problems that neighbors in East New York want resolved and fast.
These days home isn't exactly where the heart is for Sandy Mingo, of East New York .

“It is a dumping ground. It's an area for the for the drug addicts,” says Mingo.
She says the dumping ground is next door to her house.  She claims garbage is not the only problem at the lot. She says the homeless have made their home here as well.

“Some people are actually living here,” says Mingo. “You feel like somebody is going to mug you when you are walking down the street.”

News 12’s cameras were rolling when Pedro Perez walked out of the lot next to Mingo’s house. He tells News 12 he has nowhere to live.

“I am homeless. I relax and I take naps, but I don't sleep there,” says Perez.
Many who live at Pitkin Avenue and Doscher Street say enough is enough.

City Councilwoman Inez Barron says her office is aware of the situation. She says the owner has been put on notice that the lot needs to be cleaned up.

The councilwoman met with the concerned homeowners, telling them that the owner was warned five weeks ago and has a total of two months to clean up the eyesore.

However, she says it is a process.

“When the time has expired for him to be able to say what it is he is going to do, then the city will come in and we will clean the lot and we will bill the private owner,” says Barron.

Barron also says her office will do what they can to speed up the process.

“I am going to reach out to my contacts that I have in city council and mayor’s office to see if in fact based on the longevity of the situation there isn't something that can be done to expedite it. It's not the first time the owner has been informed,” says Barron.
