A community group in Flatbush is running a campaign to fight gentrification in their neighborhood.
Equality for Flatbush's campaign is called "Before it's gone, take it back." It aims to stop the closing of small businesses and low-income housing to make way for luxury condos. Residents are being asked to document the neighborhood's culture through pictures, videos and artwork.
Imani Henry, the group's leader, says the campaign is about celebrating life in Flatbush and offering resources so people are not pushed out by gentrification.
The group says it is not against development, as long as it does not push out people who have been living there their whole lives.
