(AP) - Former Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress has beensentenced to two years in prison for possessing a weapon at a NewYork City nightclub.
The former New York Giants wide receiver was sentenced Tuesdayin Manhattan's state Supreme Court. He will be supervised for twoyears after his release.
Burress pleaded guilty last month to attempted criminalpossession of a weapon. He expects to begin serving timeimmediately and says he hopes to return to football.
Burress was at the Latin Quarter nightclub last November when agun tucked into his waistband slipped down his leg and fired,wounding his thigh.
Former teammate Antonio Pierce, who drove Burress to thehospital, was not indicted.
