The Federal Aviation Administration has announced plans to increase oversight of Boeing’s production and manufacturing.
The agency says they will conduct an audit on the company to focus on quality control and safety.
This comes a day after the agency opened an investigation into Boeing’s 737 Max 9 planes.
The inquiry was prompted by an emergency landing incident involving a plane that lost part of its fuselage shortly after takeoff from Portland last week.
The agency grounded most Boeing 737 Max 9 planes following the incident. They have yet to provide a timeline as to when the planes will return to service.
