A Canarsie firefighter and a math teacher are the latest Brooklyn residents to be recognized as "Heroes of the Month." 
Borough President Eric Adams gave Lt. Robert Whelan an honorary citation after he jumped into a burning home in Brownsville to save a 6-year-old boy last month. 
Madeline Scotto was also honored. The 100-year-old woman still teaches at Saint Ephrem School in Dyker Heights. 
Scotto and Whelan will represent Brooklyn heroes for November and Dec adeline Scotto named Brooklyn 'He ember, respectively.
