A fire tore through an apartment building on 5th Avenue Tuesday night, resulting in injuries to more than a dozen people as firefighters pulled victims from the windows.
The FDNY says the fire started just before 9 p.m. inside 881 5th Avenue. The building is located between 38th and 39th streets.
Upon arrival, first responders encountered heavy fire on the second floor.
According to FDNY officials, a total of 13 individuals sustained injuries including two firefighters. Fortunately, all are expected to recover.
The building houses apartments on the upper floors and a few businesses on the ground level, including a deli and two restaurants. It's not clear if the businesses sustained any damage.
