A Brooklyn councilman is doing his part to help catch the men wanted for a brutal attack on a transgender woman in Bushwick.
Councilman Rafael Espinal was at the Halsey Street J train station handing out 300 fliers with surveillance photos of the suspects police are looking for.
According to investigators, four men punched and kicked the 28-year-old victim while making anti-gay statements, and knocked her out using a Plexiglas board. She is still fighting for her life in the hospital.
Espinal says there's been a rise in hate crimes in the neighborhood, and he wants the community to help make sure the people responsible end up behind bars.
The NYPD previously released video of the suspects from near where the assault happened on Bushwick Avenue last Sunday. It's offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
