? An East New York church?s political forum has raised questions about race in Brooklyn?s 11th Congressional District race.
Churches United for Worldwide Action invited only African-American congressional candidates to a discussion at Grace Baptist Church Saturday. Nick Perry, Chris Owens and Carl Andrews attended the event. The only white candidate, David Yassky, says he was left out. Yassky released a statement saying he believes it is a ?disservice to voters to deny them the opportunity to hear from all candidates.? The only female 11th Congressional District candidate, Yvette Clark, also says she was not invited to the forum.
Church leaders counter that the district was carved out for minority leadership by the state and that all candidates will be invited to future events.
