A fourth suspect was arrested in the bias attack of a gay man on the Belt Parkway.
Prosecutors call 20-year-old Anthony Fortunato the ringleader who met 29-year-old Michael Sandy on the Internet. Investigators say Fortunato and three other suspects lured Sandy to a Plum Beach rest stop with the promise of sex. According to police, the suspects tried to rob Sandy and when he ran away he was hit by a car. Sandy died five days later from his injuries.
Fortunato was indicted Wednesday, while John Fox, 19, and Ilya Shurov, 20, were indicted last week. The three men were charged with second-degree murder and attempted robbery as a hate crime. The 16-year-old who was also arrested in the attack is being held without bail. If convicted, the men could get 25 years to life in prison.
