Mourners held a funeral Monday for the young Brooklyn boy struck and killed by an MTA bus in the Bronx over Memorial Day weekend.

They wore white, they say, to commemorate his short life.

Relatives say 7-year-old Shavone Bethea Jr. and his father were together around 3 p.m. on May 26 when a bus turned from Webster Avenue onto East 184th Street and struck the child, who was riding a scooter.

The two were visiting an uncle in Fordham for a family cookout.

"The unbelievable happened," said Kenneth Goodman, the boy's uncle. "There's no way to describe that."

The victim's family has filed a notice of intent to sue the MTA for $10 million. Attorney Sanford Rubenstein says the transit agency is liable for his death.

The bus driver remained at the scene of the accident, and the MTA says it is working with police in the investigation into the boy's death.
