An aluminum baseball bat ban on Bronx and city public school playing fields has prompted a group to consider legal action.
The New York City Council voted 41-4 Monday to ban the bats, citing safety concerns. The council overrode Mayor Michael Bloomberg's veto. The new law is set to go into effect September 1.
A newly formed organization of players, coaches and bat makers called Don't Take My Bat Away plans to file a federal lawsuit. The Public Schools Athletic League and Catholic League both support the litigation.
