A Brooklyn grand jury indicted 17 people from AR Medical Arts in Midwood for car insurance fraud.Officials say this kind of fraud is one reason why Brooklyn has the highest insurance rates in the country. Monday's bust follows what officials say is a typical pattern of conspiracy involving doctors, clinics and organized crime. Officials say all too often an accident is staged and medical providers bill insurance companies for services that were never rendered. The defendants are charged with scheming to defraud, money laundering, grand larceny, insurance fraud, falsifying business records, and offering false instruments for filing.
