As holiday shopping gets into full swing, workers are preparing to deliver an extraordinary amount of packages this month.
Ginny Martinez, the senior manager at the Brooklyn FedEx facility, says they have 120 trucks, but will rent more to get the tremendous amount of freight on the road and delivered.
Around the world, 20 million packages will be moved out of FedEx facilities. Martinez says they are ready for the task.
"This season is what we plan for all year," said Martinez.
One driver says a perk of his job is spreading holiday cheer.
"It's really good, delivering to people...sometimes they don't expect to get packages delivered to them and they are all excited. This is part of our job, making people happy at the end of the day," said Franklin Defreitas.
The National Retail Federation says stores saw 5.1 million fewer shoppers on Black Friday this year and 1.8 million fewer shoppers on Thanksgiving. A research firm expects shoppers to spend $2.5 billion on Cyber Monday.
