New Jersey roadways saw traffic Sunday night as drivers rushed for holiday travel.
AAA says Sunday was the worst time to travel through New Jersey on the roads this holiday season. News 12 spoke with several drivers who certainly believed it.
“It's the worst day because everybody's out there,” remarked one driver. “We’ve all got to do what we’ve got to do. It's just a busy season - busy for a reason.”
Another driver was returning home from a trip to Canada.
“We drove up Friday with a car full of presents for our family,” he said. “The engine light was on, but we made it.”
So what’s the key to making sure all that traffic doesn’t turn one into a Grinch of a driver?
“Podcasts, Christmas carols, a quick stop for some fuel,” said one traveler. “Just remember, it's the holidays. Be nice.”
“Slow down!” remarked another. "Don't text!”
“If you are an early bird or a night owl, those are going to be your best options,” said Tracy Noble, of AAA Mid-Atlantic. “Check your route ahead of time. That might not be the road most traveled. It might be a little bit longer, mile-wise, but if you keep moving, that to me is always the better option.”
