Students in Sheepshead Bay learned first-hand about what it was like during the Holocaust.

Stephen Berger, who is part of the last generation of Holocaust survivors, visited kids at I.S. 98. The 87-year-old was captured with his family by the Nazis when he was only 16 years old.

He told students that the only reason he and some of his family members made it through alive was because he was studying engineering at the time and the Nazis were in need of mechanics.

Berger says it's important that young people of all ages hear real-life stories and learn the history of what happened.
