A New York City Housing Authority complex in Brownsville is partially turning into a hub for technology and wellness, local officials announced Friday.
The project, called "The Campus," will be lodged in the Howard Houses, and be the first of its kind in public housing, according to those involved.
The plan calls for space for local tech startups and entrepreneurs, coding and app development workshops and a wellness center.
Borough President Eric Adams announced he plans to pledge $500,000 to the program, citing its powerful initiative and ability to keep students educated.
The Campus is expected to be ready for use this fall.
