Inmates at a prison upstate recently donated back-to-school supplies for students in need.
Inmates at Sullivan Correctional Facility raised more than $1,300 for backpacks for the students. They did it by taking polaroids of other inmates with their families when they visited the prison.
The supplies then traveled to the Children of Promise event in Bed-Stuy. Kids got their hair braided, nails painted and discovered their inner artists.
The inmates chose to donate to the Children of Promise organization because kids involved have one or more parent in the prison system.
The backpacks included supplies like notebooks and math sets.
