? The jury for Lee Woods, the second man accused of fatally shooting Detective Russel Timoshenko, spent all of Thursday deliberating.
Members of Woods? jury asked to see presentations of evidence again, as well as to hear read-backs of testimony and clarification of the charges.
The slain officer?s family returned to the courtroom Thursday to follow the proceedings in the trial of Lee Woods. Timoshenko?s relatives were devastated to hear a not guilty verdict that was returned Wednesday night in the case of Robert Ellis, one of the three men accused of murdering Timoshenko and wounding Detective Herman Yan during a routine traffic stop last year.
Ellis? attorney had disputed the prosecution?s theory that her client was the shooter. Ellis was, however, convicted on three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Closing arguments were presented for the third defendant, Dexter Bostic, who prosecutors claim fired the fatal shots to Timoshenko?s head. Bostic?s lawyer insists there is no evidence that Bostic was the one who murdered Timoshenko. He says Bostic was not even in the car.
