Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor spoke before a packed crowd Friday at the Brooklyn Central Public Library.

The South Bronx-born Sotomayor is the first Hispanic person to serve on the Supreme Court.

She was joined on stage and interviewed by actress Sonia Manzano, who portrayed Maria on "Sesame Street."

Sotomayor's books include the memoir "My Beloved World" and "Turning Pages: My Life Story," which is geared toward children.

Sotomayor offered anecdotes from her life and took a few questions from the crowd. She talked about having juvenile diabetes and growing up in public housing.

Tickets offered ahead of the event quickly sold out. Those in attendance also received a signed copy of one of Sotomayor's books.
