New York's Red Flag Laws just expanded its power after new legislation passed by Gov. Kathy Hochul.

The new change exempts applications for an “extreme risk protection order” from requiring an index number fee.

“This piece of legislation will ensure increased accessibility with a more straight-forward process for New Yorkers to take proactive measures in preventing harm and promoting public safety,” said Hochul.

The Red Flag Laws keep guns out of the hands of those who could pose a danger to themselves or others.
