The man accused in a 1987 cold case murder was arraigned in court today.
Edwin Alcaide, 53, is accused of stabbing to death 19-year-old Lissette Torres on News Year's Day 1987 in a lot on Third Avenue in Park Slope.
Torres' mother say the arrest is bittersweet, but she is happy that the police have finally caught the person responsible.
Police say that DNA evidence was used to link Alcaide to the murder.
Alcaide is being held without bail and is charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He is due back in court on Tuesday.
