? Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NYC) unveiled a public awareness campaign Thursday aimed at ending domestic violence in the Bronx and across the city.
The campaign will feature subway and bus advertisements, urging New Yorkers to contact the city?s 311 service for help. Officials say many people who are killed through domestic violence had never sought assistance before. A city advocate claims one third of homicide victims are the result of such violence.
The campaign coincides with a two-week festival of performances, events and celebrity appearances called "Until the Violence Stops: NYC." The festival starts June 12.
