Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams honored an American hero who visited New York City on a new mission to help other soldiers.
Army Staff Sgt. Ty Michael Carter received the Medal of Honor, the highest military honor, for his heroic acts during his 2009 tour in Afghanistan.
Carter suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder after his time in combat, but now, he is on a national tour raising awareness about the affliction.
Carter stresses that PTSD can be treated and that soldiers should ask for help.
He is also urging people to hire soldiers because their military training makes some of them the best candidates for local jobs.
