A Holocaust survivor who lives in Mill Basin is spreading his message of triumph over adversity to Brooklyn kids.
Jack Ratz says he was 14 years old in 1941 when the Nazis sent him away to a concentration camp from his home in Latvia. Ratz lost his mother and three younger brothers, but was reunited with his father who also survived.
Ratz has written a book and speaks to some 30,000 students in the city and across the U.S. each year. He says he hopes his message is one of hope.
