A new health vehicle is offering up its services to people in need.

Dilenia Rodriguez had given birth to her second daughter, Sophia, 22 months ago. The little girl was born with Down syndrome and respiratory issues.

She had no idea where she would go for the help her daughter needed.

But then she found the Children's Health Fund, as well as their mobile clinics.

They ride out to different family shelters, where they know kids are, so they can provide services without having them wait.

“Your pediatrician, your nurse, everything, right there, on the spot,” Dennis Walto, the CEO of the Children's Health Fund, said. “It’s everything you need in a comprehensive mobile setting."

It was so comprehensive that Dilenia was able to find a new home for herself and her daughter.

No co-pay is needed for any of the treatments. 

There’s also a new unit called the Transit. The car is responsible for bringing patients from shelters to the clinic on Longwood Avenue when the mobile unit isn’t around.
