Mothers of homicide victims hold National Day of Remembrance ceremony in Vinegar Hill
About 10 mothers came out to the corner of Melquan Jatelle Anderson Drive and York Street to release doves. They said it symbolizes their promises to their fallen children that they'll never forget them.

10h agoMothers of homicide victims gathered in Vinegar Hill Sunday to take part with in National Day of Remembrance.
About 10 mothers came out to the corner of Melquan Jatelle Anderson Drive and York Street to release doves. They said it symbolizes their promises to their fallen children that they'll never forget them.
The support group "Pheonix Mothers" was formed shortly after Melquan Anderson was fatally shot right on the street named after him back in October of 2017.
Each of the women whose child died from gun violence said coming together reminds them that they still have a family after their own relatives died.
As of right now, the Melquan Anderson Foundation supports 25 mothers. The group said its hope is to not add any more.
