Parents, teachers and faculty members attended the ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday for a new high school that opened in Red Hook.
The principal of the Agnes Y. Humphrey School for Leadership says Red Hook is long over due for a high school. Education officials say for years, students had to attend high schools outside their community. Many students were even forced to travel to other neighborhoods and boroughs.
School officials say students can look forward to an intense academic program plus internships. The school day and school year will be extended at the Red Hook school.
