Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly announced today that an officer who fatally shot an unarmed teenager in The Bronx has been placed on restricted duty.
A day after 18-year-old Ramarely Graham was shot and killed in front of his home during a marijuana arrest, police are still trying to put the pieces together to determine what happened.
Today, Kelly held a press conference on the incident, saying that the officers on the scene thought they saw a gun in Graham's hands. However, no gun was found. The teen's death has sparked outrage in the community, marking the third time in a week that police officers shot and killed a suspect.
The name of the officer who fired the shots has not been released. Kelly only said that he is 30 years old and joined the force in 2008. His supervising sergeant was also placed on restricted duty.
