Police say first responders found 2-year-old Melody Pheng unconscious inside her 47th Street home around 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Sunset Park after her parents called 911.
Rescuers say they arrived to find Melody's father performing CPR on the unconscious and unresponsive girl. She was transported to Maimonides Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
According to police, the child's parents were giving her a bath before they called 911.
Police say they're questioning both parents about the incident, and that they're cooperating with the investigation.
Multiple reports say police are looking into whether child abuse may have played a role in the death.
Melody's 4-year-old brother has been placed in the care of the Administration for Children's Services.
The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
