Participants pounded the pavement despite the rain in Massapequa Saturday morning at the American Parkinson's Disease Association Optimism Walk.
The walk is an important and fun-filled fundraising event that is part of a nationwide movement to mobilize and inspire people to step up and help put an end to Parkinson's disease.
News 12 Long Island Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Meredith Garofalo was the event's emcee.
More than $100,000 was raised that will locally support people with Parkinson's disease and their families.
