Paterson Plank Road, a major road in Hudson County that's seen multiple crashes, will shut down Friday as police continue to investigate a fatal crash that killed three people.

The Hudson County Prosecutors Office says Paterson Plank Road between Congress and Hope streets will be closed between 10 a.m. and noon.

Police advise drivers to avoid the area while officials investigate.

At least seven people in the last seven years have been killed on Paterson Plank Road. Actions since the most recent deadly crash include traffic guide posts installed to separate north and southbound lanes, increased enforcement for speeding and drunk driving violations, and digital signs placed on the road to alert drivers to slow down.

"It's kind of scary. It's like a roller coaster," one woman told News 12 New Jersey. "Like you can't see around the curves, so you don't know if somebody is coming around. Sometimes it's the last curve. It's kind of scary thinking a car could be flying down there and not see you."

Eric Rodriguez, of Jersey City, says he thinks an investigation is proper.

“The cars fly through here. This is a main hub for transportation," he said. "We got four or five lines of buses that come here. Commuters come here a lot, I come through here every day and the cars don't respect the speed limit.”
