A group that holds parties and concerts at Williamsburg's McCarren Park Pool has started a petition drive to persuade the city from kicking out musicians.
JellyNYC hopes the signatures will give it leverage with the city. The Department of Parks and Recreation has said parties at the drained pool will end on Aug. 30 so that the city can convert the site back into a public pool.
The parks department said it understands the concerns of the community and performers who have come to recognize the site as a popular music venue, and that it's willing to work with them to find a new space.
However, renovation plans for McCarren will continue.
