Two men accused of stealing $500,000 from the City of Clifton are facing money laundering charges, according to police.
Authorities say Robert Richard, of Louisiana, and William Mcinteer, of Missouri, posed as contractors and routed payments to a third-party bank account.
Police opened an investigation in 2022 after becoming aware of a large fraudulent transaction.
Both men have been extradited back to New Jersey and are awaiting their first court appearance.
