Police say two people were rescued from a house fire in Riverhead late Friday night. 

The fire started around 11 p.m. in a home on Bayside Avenue in Jamesport. 

Crews worked to put out the flames and helped the two people inside the home get out safely. They were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment.

An investigation is ongoing, but officials say the cause of the fire appears noncriminal.
