Three people were shot at a cookout on Memorial Day in East New York, police say.
Neighbors say nearly 200 people were outside enjoying music and food when shots rang out on Stanley Avenue and Hemlock Street around 7 p.m. Monday.
Police confirmed that shots struck a 42-year-old man in the neck and head and a 36-year-old sitting inside a car in the arm. A detective says the second victim drove away and was later picked up with a gunshot wound.
A third victim later walked into Brookdale Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, police say.
The first victim is in critical condition, while the other two are expected to be OK.
Police say they are still sifting through evidence at the scene. They say a gun was located across the street.
