At least one car was stolen and five had cash taken from them in Oceanside, according to Nassau County police.
Sanjay Pathak lives on Carrel Boulevard in Oceanside - where two of his neighbors told News 12 off camera that their cars were stolen from their driveways on Monday. One of the stolen vehicles was a Porsche.
It's one of at least three streets in Oceanside where cars have been targeted by thieves.
"I'm definitely going to lock my car and lock my back door," Pathak says. "We will be extra careful."
Other homeowners say their catalytic converters were stolen from their driveway.
Chris Dickie, who lives on Westminster Road, says he knew his car's catalytic converter was stolen when he tried to start his SUV on Sunday.
"I grew up here - my whole life this has never happened," Dickie says. "For this to be going on in my neighborhood, where I'm going to start a family, where I just planted roots in the ground, it's scary."
Others like Jennifer Knott says they had cash stolen from their car on Montgomery Avenue. Two of her neighbors tell News 12 the same thing happened to them.
"They grabbed everything out of here - it was all over the place," Knott says. "Everything out of here - all over."
Officials are urging people to keep their car doors locked and do whatever they can to protect their valuables.
