Police: Gunshots fired near P.S. 233 in Brooklyn, suspect on the loose

Gunshots were fired in the area of a public school in East Flatbush, according to the NYPD.
Officers were dispatched to the area on Avenue B where a shooting took place across the street from P.S. 233 at around 9:30 a.m.
Investigators say the shooting suspect escaped in a car. There were no other details released about the suspect.
Some parents who came to pick up their children in the afternoon following the incident say they were not aware that it happened until they arrived at the school building for dismissal.
It's unclear if the school went on lockdown, but News 12 reached out to the Department of Education for a comment.
