Police say businesses in Suffolk and Nassau counties were burglarized overnight.
Officers arrested a Riverhead man after a burglary at European Foods on Old Country Road just before 11 p.m. Friday.
They say an alarm was activated at the supermarket and police rushed to the area.
When they arrived, officers say they noticed glass had been broken out of the front door.
News 12 was told that's when 21-year-old Jose Montes-Fuentes was caught walking away from the front door.
Montes-Fuentes was arrested at the scene and found to have an active arrest warrant against him.
Police say another burglary happened just before 1 a.m. at the International Buffet on Stewart Avenue in East Garden City.
Detectives say an unknown number of suspects pried open the front doors of the restaurant.
Once inside, News 12 was told they took an unknown amount of money and then fled from the business in an unknown direction.
Police urge anyone with information about either incident to contact them.
