A man is accused of attempting to grab the gun of an MTA collecting agent while he provided security for another employee inside of the Brooklyn L station, police say.
The incident happened on June 11, inside the Sutter Avenue L train station and is among the latest in transit crime which, according to NYPD statistics, is up 4 percent.
Police say Rodney D. Duncan, 24, approached the 47-year-old MTA collecting agent and attempted to remove his gun from its holster.
Rodney and the MTA agent were involved in a brief struggle before the suspect ran off, according to police.
The agent was providing security for another MTA employee who was performing maintenance on a MetroCard vending machine.
The NYPD is advising the public to keep valuables close by and be aware of your surroundings to avoid becoming a victim.
Police have released an image of Rodney, and say anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
