Police are seeking the public's assistance in finding the person responsible for stealing American flags from Park Slope residents.
Authorities say a man stole flags from several homes near Sherman Street and 10th Avenue Friday morning.
In surveillance video, the suspect can be seen pulling up on a bicycle and walking up to the homes, removing their flags and flagpoles.
The suspect is described as a white male, wearing denim shorts and a bandana, and carrying two backpacks.
Neighbors say they were baffled by the thefts, questioning why someone would do such a thing on Independence Day.
Police say the suspect is wanted in connection with seven petit larcenies in the area.
