Police believe they have a suspect in custody as the investigation into a woman’s fatal shooting in East Flatbush continues.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, when police were called to a building along Rockaway Parkway. Responding officers found 33-year-old Yahhira Nesby shot in the chest and leg. She was already dead when the officers arrived at the scene.
The investigation led the officers to the back of the building where they found an injured man. They believe he is the shooter and that he hurt his foot as he tried to escape when he jumped from a second-floor window.
Authorities say he is now in the hospital and that charges are pending.
The suspect has not been identified as authorities are now trying to figure out what may have led to the killing.
