A new citywide law that went into effect Wednesday allows drivers to pre-pay for Muni-Meters.
Motorists can feed meters one hour before Muni-Meter regulations go into effect.
City Councilman David Greenfield wrote the legislation, which was given the green light in 2013. Since that time, the city had to make sure all machines are able to accept the pre-payment methods.
The meters are programmed to shut down when drivers do not have to pay for parking, like during the evening or when it runs out of paper for receipts.
