Hundreds of New Yorkers raced through Prospect Park for the fifteenth annual Miles for Midwives.
The 5K run is held each year to recognize the medical professionals trained to help women during childbirth.
"It's really a gathering of birth and wellness professionals and just a chance to network with each other and meet each other and have a day of celebration for New York City families and midwives who care for them," said Gina Eichenbaum-Pikser, of Miles for Midwives.
The event raises awareness and funds for NYC Midwives, an organization that helps families find midwives in their area. This year, half the proceeds will also go to support maternity care in Puerto Rico.
