Family and friends of a teenager stabbed to death in East New York rallied for justice during a court hearing for the man accused in two separate stabbings.
Tanaya Copeland's loved ones were outside at the courthouse as 27-year-old Daniel St. Hubert appeared via video conference. He's accused of stabbing two young children in an elevator back in June, near where Copeland was stabbed more than 30 times just days later.
Police initially said they believe Hubert may also be responsible for the 18-year-old's death, but have not yet tied the cases together.
Hubert is facing a number of charges, including murder and attempted murder. One of his victims, 6-year-old PJ Avitto, passed away, while 7-year-old Mikayla Capers managed to survive. He has pleaded not guilty, but his attorney says an insanity plea is not out of the question.
Hubert's attorney also said that he has not been told of any connection between his client and Copeland's case.
