A resident at the Ralph Avenue Houses says she has been living with a giant hole in her bathtub since June.
Shaquasia Butler says the soap dish holder initially fell, bringing five tiles with it. She covered the gaping hole that it left behind with garbage bags and duct tape, but rats managed to turn it into a home over the past three months.
Butler claims she called the New York City Housing Authority dozens of times, but nobody showed up to her apartment until Wednesday afternoon. Workers covered the hole with plywood and tape.
During August of last year, Butler says she discovered a mold problem in her bathroom that spread to the hallway. She says after complaining all last year, NYCHA workers finally cleaned the mold and repainted.
She is worried that it will take another year for them to properly repair her bathtub, which she says could be a major problem since she is expecting a baby in December.
News 12 Brooklyn reached out to the city's housing authority, and it said it is looking into the issue.
