Red Hook is among five new ferry destinations coming to Brooklyn by 2017, according to officials.
They say the ferries will provide greater commercial and commuter access to the borough.
The city's plan includes building new docks at either the Van Brunt Street or Valentino piers.
Officials hosted a public meeting on the proposal Thursday at the Miccio Center in Red Hook.
